Indonesian Chrysocolla Bacan

Chrysocolla gemstone is not as famous as Turquoise and Malachite although they all are a copper bearing mineral. But the beauty of its luster and its color is not less than the latter. Chrysocolla color are green, bluish green (tosca color) with a variation to white, brown, black. Wikipedia said that Chrysocolla was first introduced in 315 BC by Theophrastus, a student of Plato and Aristotle.

Indonesian Chrysocolla is found in Bacan Island, hence the call of this stone as Bacan stone (batu Bacan) is more well-known than Chrysocolla name by locals. It's very rare to find a fully translucent part in Chrysocolla raw material, as most of the time Chrysocolla is opaque, and that's why a fully translucent Chrysocolla cabochon is quite expensive for a semi precious gemstone.

The story behind Indonesian Chrysocolla gemstone among the locals, there was a spreading rumour that our President gave a beautiful fully translucent Indonesian Chrysocolla to another President. Since that this Bacan stone price is going very high, let alone the translucent one. Many locals from any part of Indonesia are going crazy of this stone after the rumour.
